Kate Goodling: From Nada To Prada

October 25, 2013 • Fashion

In our ongoing series, From Nada to Prada, we explore the transformative power of a hair switcheroo, as seen in the competitive world of Model Land, where an agency-mandated bang cut or a bleach job can make the difference between booking a Prada campaign or slaving away e-commerce for the rest of your livelong days.

American model Kate Goodling is one of our favorite fresh faces from the SS14 show season. And we mean fresh. According to Models.com, Goodling’s first show ever was Alexander Wang’s, just last month. Not a bad way to kick off a career, if we do say so ourselves. The blue-eyed, Bianca Balti-like babe went on to book Altuzarra, Calvin Klein, Balenciaga, Lanvin, just to name a scant few.

The first order of business for making it big time was apparently a good ol’ chop chop. Dig into Goodling’s shallow archives and you will find a handful of photographs, the result of a decidedly non-New York test shoot, if the American Apparel bodysuit is any indication. The photographs feature Goodling with long brown hair that lends her a precious, girl-next-door quality that could sell cars and catalogues, maybe some Yoplait. And we all know how high fashion feels about a commercial girl…

Those luscious locks quickly went the way of the dodo for her debut SS14 show season with a very of-the-minute cut gracing just above the collarbones, exaggerating a defined jawbone. The trim did the trick, apparently. While Goodling won’t be selling us yogurt anytime soon, expect to see this pretty face in a campaign near you for seasons to come.

Verdict: Prada
