From the first moment I watched the vodka-drenched video for Tove Lo’s “Habits” earlier this year, I knew that I–and every other woman armed with faulty coping mechanisms amounting to getting wasted on Wednesdays and making out with girls in the futile attempt to scoop out our miserable inner cores–had found a voice. It was honest, it was relatable, it was imperfect. I mean, who hasn’t stared at the spinning walls of a bathroom at 3 a.m. holding a glass of whisky wondering what the hell they’re doing with their life and if they’re going to be sober in time for their 9 a.m. meeting the next morning. (NOTE: GOOD THING I’M FREELANCE.)
Tove Lo is back with another track, “Moments,” during which she confesses to a litany of flaws, even dropping an f-bomb in the chorus, much to the delight to my inner ten-year-old and my (not so hidden) outer truck driver potty mouth. It’s another battle cry for the bad bitches. The self-aware ones. The ones who kind of feel bad about it. Sometimes. Right before taking another shot.
All hail the new Queen of Unpolished Pop.
And for a refresher:
